The
Volkswagen Touareg R50
In a world premiere, Volkswagen is presenting
the new Touareg R50 at the Australian International Motor Show.
Serving up a powerful 258 kW / 350 PS (at 3,500 rpm), this new
Volkswagen is one of the most powerful SUVs in the world. It
was developed by a team of specialists at Volkswagen Individual
GmbH. After the legendary Golf R32 and the Passat R36 – recently
shown in Frankfurt at the IAA 2007 – Volkswagen is now
presenting its third model under the sporty “R” label,
the Touareg R50.
Apart from an increase in performance, Volkswagen Individual
GmbH designed new exterior and interior features to reflect
the R philosophy. From the outside, the new Touareg R50 is
easily recognizable with its 21-inch Omanyt-type alloy wheels
with 295 tyres, blue painted brake callipers, discrete wheel
well flares and independent bumpers. Inside, the features
include a sports seat system in anthracite coloured napa
leather with integrated R50 logo in the headrests.

The
Volkswagen Up! Concept
The up! is a city specialist,
a car for four persons and all languages, for
the job, the university, the drive
to the beach and the excursion outside the city gates. A small
car that shows a lot of size, because it offers more space than
any other car of similar length (3.45 meters) and width (1.63
meters). Its engine – conceivable here are all facets of
technology that can be sensibly applied – will run in the
rear. And that changes everything: Space, mood and design. It is a small, pure and high-spirited Volkswagen that pays
tribute to its environment. The overall concept is marked
by an innovative, clear, intuitive functionality.

The
Volkswagen Space Up! Concept
The space up! is a small space wonder. On just
3.68 meters length and 1.63 meters width, it offers the space
of a considerably larger vehicle. The clever space concept
of the space up! is to a great extent attributable to its engine
layout: The environmentally-friendly gasoline, diesel and electric
powertrains of the future Up! family are always located in
the rear – just like on the Beetle and the Bulli (Microbus)
of the past.
Volkswagen is introducing the space up! as the second model
variant of the “New Small Family”. The up! concept
car presented at the IAA in Germany and the space up! now
being shown in Japan are unified by a common design philosophy.
The cars are characterized by a simple, clear language of
forms. The designers consciously omitted any superfluous
gimmicks. Like the up!, the space up! is characterized by
a completely new harmony between technical layout, on the
one hand, and emotional design on the other.

The
Volkswagen Space Up! Blue Concept
The space up! blue – with its four roof
windows – is reminiscent of the Samba Bus of the 1950s.
However, at a length of 144.9 inches the contemporary concept
car is almost 23.6 inches shorter than the cult bus of that
era. And so the "new one" is anything but a retro
version of the "old one". Nonetheless, the two vans
are certainly kindred spirits, and this goes beyond sharing
the windows in the roof. For example, their designs both incorporate
butterfly doors with opposing hinges and a motor layout in
the rear.
While fifty years ago a boxer engine in the rear provided
the propulsive force, in the new concept car it is an electric
motor. This motor outputs 45 kW / 61 PS, turns at up to 10,000
times per minute and generates a maximum torque of 120 Newton-meter.
The zero-emissions drive draws its power from an array of
twelve lithium-ion batteries with a total energy capacity
of twelve kilowatt-hours (kWh). Motorized in this way, the
space up! blue attains a top speed of 75 mph. It handles
the sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a dynamic 13.7 seconds.

The
Golf GTI W12 650 Concept
Leaving conventions in its wake has always
been at the very heart of the GTI. An icon over three decades,
the
GTI has lured over 1.67 million drivers with its siren song.
To drive the GTI it to make a statement. Since 1982, GTI fans
have gathered in Wörthersee, Austria. Thousands come to
the five-day carnival at Wörthersee, and it is for them
- the people who made the GTI a legend, that the GTI W12-650
show car was conceived.
More powerful than any Golf ever built, wider than any Golf
crafted at Wolfsburg, faster than any of its iconic predecessors,
the GTI W12-650 is seemingly fresh from the race course.
A golf that packs in technology used for the Pace Car of
the 24 hours of Le Mans. It is named after its heart: A W12
engine producing 650 horsepower. The GTI W12-650 is a show
car, nothing more, nothing less, but it does show the enormous
potential offered by the Golf platform.

The
spiritual successor to the Scirocco, The New Iroc
Early adopters of the Volkswagen range will remember
the sporty Scirocco, available in the early to mid 1970's. The
Iroc marks
the return of the sports coupe.
Complete with 5-point seat belts
and racing inspired bucket seats, the Iroc is not for the faint
hearted.
Using the latest TSI engine to produce 210PS, the Iroc
will be a quick and nimble with enough room for 4 adults.
Look
for the Iroc's release in 2008.

The
Golf R-GTI
A concept design developed by Volkswagen's design
team in California, the R-GTI is essentially a GTI with the addition
of many sports inspired modifications. Ranging from carbon fibre
body panels, four-passenger racing bucket seats and competition
bred suspension.
The car offers a huge 375 PS which can be increased to 400 PS
with the use of high quality fuel. This gives the R-GTI a 0-60mph
time of just 4.8 seconds.
Although the R-GTI is a one off example that will not be put
into production, all the components that go into the car are
available to tuning enthusiasts.

The
concept 'Neeza'
Recently unveiled at the Auto China Trade Show,
the Neeza is a concept design showing a crossover of a coupé and
estate car.
Designed purely as a concept, the Neeza gives us a lot of design
clues of how the new Golf Estate may appear.

The
New Passat R36
The latest sporty addition to the Volkswagen
range will be the hotly anticipated Passat R36, both in saloon
and estate form.
Featuring Volkswagen's 3.6 litre, V6 engine and developing 296PS,
the R36 will take just 5.5 seconds (saloon) to reach 62mph and
go on to a top speed of 155mph.
Both the saloon and the estate will feature 4Motion four wheel
drive, and the Direct Shift automatic gearbox (DSG). The R36
is further enhanced by subtle bodykits and twin exhaust pipes.

of an off-roader, resulting in a pioneering concept. A confident

Utility Vehicle).
